Marin Professionals
Marin Professionals is a self-help organization sponsored by the California Employment Development Department (EDD). Marin Professionals assist Marin County seekers of professional, managerial and technical jobs with developing skills and networking. Marin Professionals gives you the opportunity to get that next great job--at absolutely no cost to you. Professional job seekers start by attending a five-day workshop series taught by other members of Marin Professionals. The workshops provide training that will give you new ideas on how to:
- Develop a job search strategy
- Discover new job skills
- Tailor resumes and cover letters to fit job openings
- Learn and practice new interviewing skills
When you graduate from the workshops, you become a Marin Professionals member and are assigned to one of our essential departments:
- Administration
- Computer assistance
- Placement
- Training and development
- Newsletter
As a Marin Professionals member, you will be required to:
- Volunteer at least 4 hours per week
- Attend at least one general meeting each month
- Attend all department meetings each month
Marin Professionals offers proven strategies for getting a job. These strategies fall into three categories:
- Skill development workshops to help you identify skills, develop resumes, compose letters, practice interviewing, and interview on video.
- Support through obtaining counseling, hearing motivational guest speakers, attending special seminars, locating job leads, and networking.
- Facilities to aid your job search, such as telephones, fax, copier, computers, laser printers, and resources via the Internet, newspapers, books, magazines, and videos.
