Job Listings

If you are interested in browsing a variety of job listings, the Marin Employment Connection is a great place to start. While in our Career Resource Center, you will have access to job listings submitted directly to the MEC by local employers as well as access to computers which you can use to access online listings posted via a variety of sources.

INTERNET SITES FOR JOB HUNTERS

You can use search engines like Google and Yahoo to find job search information. Remember the Internet is generally more useful for research than job listings. Here are some sites you can use for research, netiquette, resumes, interviewing, job listings, training, and other help in your job search:

America’s Career InfoNet – information about the job market, an employer locator (which allows you to find employers anywhere in the United States), job descriptions and skill statements, assessment tools, and wage and trend information.

California Workforce Association’s website for job seekers.

Bureau of Labor Statistics – nationwide employment and unemployment data, links to other government data libraries.

www.dol.gov
US Department of Labor. Info about jobs, labor trends, workplace rights and benefits, getting and leaving a job, and links to job search services.

Find data by subject and provider of information. Site also has a list of “10 best sites” for economic data.

• www.edd.ca.gov
California Employment Development Department. Links directly to claim filing and information for Unemployment Insurance Benefits. The “Ask EDD” feature lets you send electronic questions and comments to the department.

California Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) – a list of agencies that can provide training under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).

A free online resume builder, Ready-Made Resumes has downloadable resume and cover letter templates, over 800 copy-and-paste resume phrases, and step-by-step help for tough work history problems. Special resume templates for skilled trades/labor, service industry, technical professionals, military-to-civilian, management/professionals, and students.  Use this program from any computer with Internet access and MS Word. You can get the password from the Career Resource Center or by attending MEC workshops.
