Mission:

optimize the effective functioning of the Marin Workforce
Investment
Board.
Responsibilities:

Nominate
effective Board members, and ensure their appropriate
orientation to the work of the WIB.

Provide
strategic review of proposed WIB initiatives and assign to
appropriate Task Forces.

Organize and
coordinate Board Committees and Task Forces.
Review and
approve Board agendas.

Communicate
with the Board of Supervisors and community
and business leaders.

Review and
recommend adoption of budgets and contracts, and
Board policies and procedures.

Support the growth of green businesses in Marin through
workforce and economic development.
Goals: 1) Identify
a subset of the green
business community that the
WIB can assist with available resources. 2)
Identify workforce and enterprise
development needs and strategies
for target sub-sectors. 3)
Implement
initiatives to develop and enhance workforce skills and organizational success.

Mission:
Support workforce development opportunities for youth,
and facilitate collaboration and support for youth initiatives carried
out
by Council
organizations.
Responsibilities:
1.
Review WIA funding for in-school and out-of-school youth
workforce development projects and provide recommendations
to the WIB.
2.
Convene and connect youth-serving organizations to advance the
youth development agenda, including youth participation in the
workforce.
3.
Provide Council members with business perspectives, information,
and resources relevant to youth.

Friday of every third month, except for January.

Mission:
Research and propose initiatives and strategies to advance
the
mission of the WIB;
and plan the annual Workforce
Summit
(in collaboration with
the Summit Task Force.)
Responsibilities:
-
Plan, promote, and support the Workforce Summit as an opportunity
to showcase key elements of the WIB’s Strategic Plan, and to develop
consensus on a workforce action agenda.
-
Systematically
engage the
Economic Commission, Chambers of
Commerce, the Board of Supervisors, education partners,
business associations, and other groups to help develop
workforce strategies.
-
Engage other organizations to
address workforce-related issues
where the WIB is not the initiator, e.g., the Marin Planning
Commission, the School-to-Career Partnership, and the
College of
Marin.
-
Identify and research public
policy issues for WIB recommendation to
the Board of Supervisors.
